The recipient of Women on Mission-STL’s 2010 – 2011 grant is “Queen of Peace Center,” an agency of Catholic Charities serving the metropolitan area of St. Louis. This grant will create a comprehensive community-based intervention to reduce the alcohol and drug use in the College Hill neighborhood of North St. Louis. Over a period of 2 years, at least 50 women and their families will be served. The Center’s residential and outpatient treatment sites offer highly skilled, compassionate professionals who believe that quality treatment should be accessible to everyone. A Community Health Coordinator will be designated to develop reciprocal partnerships with community residents, faith-based organizations, social service agencies and schools in the College Hill community.
Queen of Peace has already entered into partnerships in the College Hill neighborhood with “Connections to Success,” the recipient of Women on Mission’s 2009 – 2010 grant of $47,000 and with “Big Brothers Big Sisters,” recipient of our 2008 – 2009 grant of $45,000.
